Dr Ajit Mishra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical gastroenterology ,hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery, He is extensively trained Surgical Gastroenterologist with special interests in gastrointestinal oncology, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, biliary tract tumors, colorectal malignancies, minimal invasive procedures and liver transplant. He has a rich experience of more than 10 years in his field and has performed more than 1000 complex gastrointestinal surgeries. Dr Ajit has been trained at the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow. There are few Gastrointestinal (GI) surgeons in the country due to limited number of seats. Similar to super speciality branches like neurosurgery, urology, cardiothoracic surgery, M.Ch. GI surgery course is done after post graduation in general surgery. He is currently the one and only M.Ch GI surgeon in the state of Chhattisgarh. He worked at Max hospital Delhi and Medanta Gurgaon but in order to meet the demands of state he came back to Raipur to establish Gastrointestinal and Liver surgery department. He was working at Ramkrishna Care hospital Raipur prior to joining DKS hospital. Apart from enthusiasm for complex surgeries, he has keen interest in academics. He has numerous national and international publications and book chapters to his credit. Dr. Ajit was awarded university gold medal in the post-graduation. Even today he is actively involved in teaching post graduate students. Dr. Mishra with his experience team has successfully performed variety of complex Gastrointestinal and liver surgeries like whipples’s procedure for pancreatic tumour , Liver resection, Shunt surgery for portal hypertension, gall bladder cancer surgery, multiorgan resection for duodenal tumour. Majority of colorectal, oesophagus and stomach cancers are now being treated with laparoscopic (Minimal invasive) approach which results in less pain ,short hospital stay and early discharge. Portal hypertension is very common in Chhattisgarh, particularly in rural areas, so he is running awareness programme, and also providing very low cost surgery for the same.There are some rare cases successfully operated by his team like triple malignancy in a patient who had tumour in gallbladder, kidney and thyroid which where resected simultaneously, Resection of Right lobe of liver in a rare Caroli’s disease of liver, resection of Inferior vena cava tumour. These surgeries can be done successfully only by qualified professionals who have done superspecialisation (M.Ch.) in gastrointestinal surgery. People of Chhattisgarh used to travel to metro cities for these procedures earlier, but now with dedicated surgical and critical care team people are taking benefit, and even people from Orissa and Madhya Pradesh are getting treatment at DKS super speciality Hospital Raipur. Dr Mishra is now working to establish Cadaveric transplant programme in the state. Dr.Mishra has a vision to provide affordable quality services to everyone and he is focusing on driving down the cost of treatment, thus putting complex cancer surgeries within the means of economically weaker section.

Dr. Ashish Goenka completed his MBBS from SCB Medical College, Cuttack and M.S General Surgery from VSS Medical College, Burla. He then worked as Senior Resident in the most prestigious institute of India AIIMS, New Delhi for 3 years. Later he joined as Asst. Professor in the Department of General Surgery at Pt. JNMMC College, Raipur on 2015 and then moved to DKS Superspeciality Hospital and Research Centre. He is also a laparoscopic surgeon and also trained to perform various endoscopic and colonoscopic procedures. His areas of interest are laparoscopic and gastrointestinal surgeries.

Dr. Gaurav Joshi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgical gastroenterology. He is extensively trained in Minimal Access Surgery with special interests in advanced Laparoscopic procedures of Bariatric and Metabolic surgery, gastrointestinal oncology, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, biliary tract tumours, and colorectal malignancies.

He has a rich experience of more than 10 years in his field and has performed more than 1000 complex Laparoscopic gastrointestinal surgeries. Dr Gaurav has been trained at the prestigious All India Institute of medical sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS) for 9 years. He is currently the one and only M.Ch Minimal Access Surgeon in the state of Chhattisgarh. Trained with Professor Sandeep Aggarwal, who is internationally known Bariatric surgeon. Trained with Professor Rajinder Parshad, who is internationally known thoracic and upper GI tract surgeon. He has numerous national and international publications and book chapters to his credit. Dr Gaurav is now working to establish Cadaveric transplant programme in the state.
