This is the first and only Surgical Gastroenterology department of the Chhattisgarh State Govt. founded in Sep 2019 with the following objectives –

Our aim is to take care of the patients on the basis of ethical practice and scientific principles, carry out interesting and meaningful research, publish research outcomes regularly in peer-reviewed journals.

         State of the art techniques - In our department we perform both open and laparoscopic surgery for benign and malignant conditions of the oesophagus, stomach, small and large bowel/intestine, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and biliary tract. We have a state-of-the-art imaging and interventional radiology services which form an important part of our patient management both in the emergency and elective situation. Liver resections are performed using drip monopolar cautery, kellyclysis and harmonic. Audit Every week the departmental performance is evaluated in a comprehensive audit meeting. The elective and emergency operations performed in the previous week are discussed in this meeting. This audit is undertaken to improve the care of patients and to consider whether current management policies need to be changed.
